Our Technology

The technology behind CEREC dentistry.

Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC) dentistry is accomplished by using a medical-grade computer and a CEREC camera. This specialized dental restoration tool is used to create a 3D model of prepared teeth. From the 3D model, the restoration can then be designed on screen, allowing for the reconditioning of decayed teeth, assistance in the placement of dental crowns, the removal of defective amalgam dental fillings or placement of porcelain dental veneers, allowing tooth restorations to be created in the dentist office, all within a single visit.

HOW CEREC WORKS

CEREC Restoration

A Typical CEREC Procedure

Digital X-Rays

Unlike unsightly silver dental fillings, CEREC fillings are restorations are made of tooth-colored ceramic (porcelain), so they look natural. A CEREC procedure requires less time, less drilling and fewer injections. Each procedure can be completed in one appointment. It’s simply beautiful.

A typical procedure starts with an examination of your teeth.

Optical impression – Once your teeth are prepared, we’ll take an optical impression (picture) of the affected area.

Restoration creation – A CEREC machine will then be used to design and create your dental filling, dental crown or dental veneer. In about 8-18 minutes, your dental filling or dental crown will be complete and ready to be bonded into place.

Our office provides both digital intra oral X-rays (in mouth) and digital panoramic X-rays (outside mouth) that are both necessary to give a thorough evaluation of your dental health. A benefit of using digital X-rays is that they are instant. You no longer have to sit in the chair waiting for film to be developed by harmful chemicals.
